This autobiography captures the life journey of J. Soedradjad Djiwandono. The stories in it are not only limited to his life
as an academic and scholar. He has always been honored and proud to serve as a teacher and educator for young people
who are eager to gain knowledge for noble ideals. However, this book also tells his journey as a practitioner who had sat
as an Assistant Minister to the Junior Minister of Trade in the Development Cabinet V, and Governor of Bank Indonesia in
the Development Cabinet VI.

The story in this book is indeed quite short and delivered in a storytelling style that is easy to enjoy. Soedradjad starts his story from his childhood and family and moves on to a youth filled with academic brilliance. Then, his life continues with raising a family, being stranded in the ranks of the bureaucracy according to his expertise as an economist par excellence. And, his story is closed by filling his old age without leaving the campus world.

His consistency as an academic makes him known as a scholar with rich experience as a practitioner. He is a complete figure who jointly carries an intellectual tradition as an academic, but also has the provision of experience because he is directly involved in the world of economics, trade, and banking as a state official.

J. Soedradjad Djiwandono was born August 17th, 1938, in Taman Kadipaten, Yogyakarta. He completed his undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Economics, Gadjah Mada University (1963), M.Sc. Economics (State Finance) and M.A. (Development Economics) at the University of Wisconsin, and M.A. in Political Economy (1978), and Ph.D. in Monetary
Economics with a minor in International Economics and Development Economics (1980), at Boston University, Massachusetts. He became Junior Minister of Trade in the Development Cabinet V (1988-1993) and Governor of Bank Indonesia (1993-1998). As a Professor of Economics, he actively writes scientific papers in journals and articles in Indonesian and English that are spread in the mass media.
